Deputy President meets with exiled Lesotho political leaders─── CATHY DLODLO 11:18 Sat, 11 Feb 2017
Bloemfontein - South African Deputy President, Cyril Ramaphosa, is meeting with exiled Lesotho political leaders today.
This is in an effort - as facilitator for SADC – to ensure their safe return home as part of efforts to establish peace and stability in the country.
The leaders have been in exile since a failed coup attempt by an army general in 2014. Today’s meeting forms part of a working visit to the Mountain Kingdom that also included talks with leaders of opposition parties, college of Chiefs, Council of Lesotho Churches.
During an exclusive interview with former Lesotho Prime Minister Tom Thabane, who is in exile, he said after the last meeting with Ramphosa they only have to iron out security issues around their return home.
"Ramaphosa is intervening and we shared some of the concerns we had around us returning home. Well there were other concerns, but the main one was around security. So we discussed this with him and I think he understood and are working on them," Thabane added.
