Brakpan community wants murdered child's parents arrested | News Article
Johannesburg - Some Brakpan community members have accused the parents of four year old Jasmine Pretorius, who was found dead under a bed at her father's house on Saturday, of neglecting and failing to protect their daughter.

As Sasha-Lee Bam and Morné Pretorius walked out of the court where a family member appeared in connection with the crime yesterday, some angry members of the public called for them to be arrested as well.

The case against the 23-year-old man, who is accused of raping and murdering his niece, was postponed to 7 January in the Brakpan Magistrates Court.

At the same time, Jasmine's grandfather, Collin Bam, defended her mother and father by saying they were good parents.

Bam insists Sasha-Lee is a good parent and that her father, Morné was always protective of her.

Bam did however conceed that Morné should not have left Jasmine in her uncle’s care while he went out to drink with his new girlfriend.

Bam said when he arrived at the scene the accused appeared nervous and later confessed to the crime.
