Rustenburg faces water restrictions as water levels are at 1%─── PULANE CHOANE 11:21 Tue, 04 Dec 2018
Starting from today, the Rustenburg Local Municipality in the North West will implement scheduled water restrictions as the area faces extremely low water levels in its dams and reservoirs.
As a result, immediate restrictions will be implemented on all town reservoirs to save the water which has already been stored in the system for supply. This is according to the spokesperson at the municipality, David Magae, who said that as it stands the Rand water system is currently at 1%, consequently residents and businesses alike will experience minimal to no water supply. Residents in the greater Rustenburg area are urged to use water sparingly until water supply to the area has stabilised and to also avoid watering gardens and the filling of swimming pools with water.
Magae told OFM News that these restrictions will be indefinite until the situation normalizes. Meanwhile, these water restriction schedules will be every day from 13:00 - 17:00 and again at 22:00 the same day to - 05:00 the following morning.
Areas immediately affected will include all extensions of Cashan, Protea Park, Waterkloof, Central Business District, East End, Boschdal, Bo-dorp, Safari, Waterfall East and Selly Park.
The municipality apologises to residents for the inconvenience.
