Woman dies in accident on R59 near Sasolburg─── OLEBOGENG MOTSE 12:37 Sat, 26 May 2018
A 48-year-old woman has died in an accident between two Volkswagen (VW) polos on the R59 in Vaalpark near Sasolburg this morning.
According to ER24, a 24-year-old man who was driving the second vehicle, sustained minor injuries. The deceased was found by emergency medical personnel lying outside her vehicle in the field, it is believed bystanders removed her from the vehicle.
ER24’S Ineke van Huyssteen says the woman was declared dead on the scene. The man was found still seated in his vehicle on the road and was transported to hospital for further medical attention. The circumstances surrounding the incident were not known, but police were on the scene for further investigations.
The R59 was thereafter closed off by authorities in the area, who urged motorists to make use of alternative roads.
Free State Police spokesperson, Josephine Rani, confirmed to OFM News the R59 is now opened to motorists travelling in this direction,
