The Free State Working on Fire's firefighting teams have been dispatched to assist various Fire Protection Associations and land owners to battle over 100 veld fires for August thus far.
More than 240 firefighters fought 12 fires across the Free State during the winter fire season while ten Working on Fire teams fought another 12 fires in the province over the last week. This afternoon, veld fires were seen spreading at a rapid rate across the road, approximately five kilometres outside Petrusburg, in the Free State.
