Interstate Bus Lines commits itself to assist victims’ families─── KATLEHO MORAPELA 10:51 Thu, 06 Jul 2017
Bloemfontein - Interstate Bus Lines says the investigation continues into the cause of the horrific bus crash on the N8 between Bloemfontein and Botshabelo, which claimed eight lives and left 51 people injured.
The company’s spokesperson, Thando Lepele, says they are in contact with family members of the deceased and are assisting them with funeral arrangements, covered by the company’s insurance. Lepele says they would like to extend their condolences to the bereaved families and would like to assure the public that passengers’ safety is being prioritised.
She says most of the injured passengers have been discharged but there are 12 patients who are still being treated at the Pelonomi Regional Hospital.
She adds that the driver of the bus is still in the hospital and is also receiving counselling.
Lepele could, however, not respond to whether the driver will be suspended or not. She says the matter is pending the outcome of the investigation.
