Bothaville - Authorities are investigating a collision on the R30 about 20 kilometres from Bothaville in the Free State in which two people died last night.

Netcare911 spokesperson Chris Botha says paramedics and the fire services arrived at the scene and found the wreckages and accident debris consistent with that of a high impact collision.

After the injured were examined it was found that two people died on impact, four were in a critical condition, while three sustained serious injuries, among the injured were two children aged around ten.

In other road collisions in Central South Africa people were injured in Kimberley and Vereeniging.

In Vereeniging, 12 people were injured when a taxi veered off the roadway on the R54 and overturned yesterday afternoon. Four commuters were found to have sustained serious injuries while the remainder escaped with moderate injuries.

In Kimberley a man was injured after he drove his car onto a roadway that was closed due to flooding while in a separate incident, two people were injured when a bakkie collided with a motorcycle.
