NWU campuses ready to reopen─── CHRISTAL-LIZE MULLER 07:06 Mon, 10 Oct 2016
Potchefstroom - The situation at all three of the North West University's (NWU) campuses has been calm through out the night, prior to the re-opening of the University today.
University spokesperson, Louis Jacobs, says contingency plans are however in place at the NWU's Mafikeng, Potchefstroom and Vaal Triangle campuses.
He says management are positive that the academic program will resume today after a recess.
He says the university's leadership at its respective campuses have been engaging with student leaders throughout. According to him university leaders remain hopeful students will complete their 2016 studies at all three its campuses.
The Mafikeng Campus was shut down about three weeks ago following violent student protests in the #FeesMustFall-campaign. Academic activities at the Vaal Triangle Campus in Vereeniging were closed on September 27, after petrol bombs were thrown at the main gate of the campus.
Activities on the Potchefstroom Campus continued as normal before last week's recess.
