Kimberley - The Northern Cape police have increased their numbers with 460 new constables that will start duty this week.
Northern Cape police spokesperson, Lieutenant Sergio Kock, says the new constables are from the September 2014 and March 2015 intakes. The new police officials were trained at the All Saints and Oudtshoorn Basic Training Institutes respectively.
Kock says 460 recruits have successfully completed the Basic Training Learning programme and were welcomed as new police constables during a parade at Vygieskraal in Cape Town in July this year.
The new constables will start their police careers in the Northern Cape mainly with invisible policing and at crime intelligence units.
The numbers of constables deployed to the different Northern Cape areas are as follows: Francis Baard (94), John Taolo Gaetsewe (68), ZF Mgcawu (129), Namakwaland (108), and Pixley ka Seme (89).
