It’s almost time for the Mayibuye Dance Academy’s 10th annual dance festival in Kimberley.

The festival showcases a diverse range of dance styles and performances from Thursday (17/10) to Saturday (26/10). With the Northern Cape Theatre as the anchor site.

Its dedication to the arts and community development has made a significant impact on the lives of many young dancers in the Northern Cape, with more than 100 dancers from ten institutions being featured,” said festival director and curator, Letlhogonolo Nche.

The festival aims to promote dance as a leading art form in the Northern Cape. It provides a platform for dancers and choreographers to showcase their talent and builds community through the universal language of dance.

Founded with the core aim of creating employment for dancers and choreographers, the festival provides an experiential platform for dancers from semi-urban, rural, and underserved towns. It also creates opportunities for costume designers, stage managers, and photographers. As a popular attraction, the festival boosts provincial tourism by attracting audiences from around the country.
