The Deputy Minister of Health and the Free State MEC will on Wednesday (8/11) lead the Rotary Family Health campaign in Mangaung, Bloemfontein.
Deputy Minister Dr Sibongiseni Dhlomo and MEC Mathabo Leeto are leading the campaign as part of collaborative efforts to take health services to the people.
Provincial health spokesperson Mondli Mvambi said the campaign is a public-private partnership between the government, South African National Aids Council, Rotary International, and various organisations.
It’s aimed at bringing a comprehensive package of free primary and specialised health services to underserved and hard-to-reach communities across the country for three consecutive days during November of every year.
Community members from Mangaung have gathered at the Kagisanong Hall to be part of the campaign. Young and old will form part of discussions where many will be given opportunities to ask questions on a variety of issues including more prevalent diseases like tuberculosis and cancer.
Deputy Minister Dhlomo will be accompanied by the SANAC Executive Manager Reverend Zwo Nevhutalu, Free State Health MEC Mathabo Leeto, the CEO of Rotary Action Group for Family Health and AIDS Prevention Sue Paget, leaders of civil society, business, and development partners.
The Deputy Minister will also the opportunity to unveil the theme for the 2023 World AIDS Day Campaign, which serves to unite people in response to HIV and to show support for people living with HIV while remembering those who have perished from AIDS-related illnesses, Mondli said.
