EFF in Fezile Dabi wants action taken against officials | News Article

In this leaked report it’s alleged a certain service provider inflated prices immediately after being illegally appointed to render services to the municipality.

The EFF in the Fezile Dabi region has called for swift action to be taken against those implicated in a forensic report which looked into allegations of misconduct at the Sasolburg-based Metsimaholo municipality.  OFM News previously reported that Molefi Ntleru Inc's Attorney's report found that the Local Municipal Manager and Chief Financial Officer involved themselves in acts of corruption when appointing a security tender worth R2.4 million.

The EFF's regional chairperson, April Motaung said consequence management should be implemented and those found to be on the wrong side of the law be dealt with. "This report vindicates the decision of the council to place the municipal manager and other senior municipal officials on precautionary suspension for their involvement in corrupt dealings in the awarding of tenders."

The mayor's driver and bodyguard were directly involved in the drafting and development of specifications for a security service tender. He was classified as the contact "technical person" and this immediately conflicted the executive mayor with interfering with the administrative processes of the municipality, Motaung said.

The DA mayor Jeff Zwane was also mentioned in the Ntlero report which described him as a conflicted party. The DA caucus leader Thulani Mbana told OFM News that Zwane was influenced by some of the recommendations from the report.

"It is a fact that the executive mayor on the 9th of May this year wrote to the council proactively to request a council and to allow him to recuse himself from any processes that seek to investigate the awarding of the security tender. The executive mayor did this proactively to show to the council that he has nothing to hide in light of this investigation because the executive mayor is not involved and has never been involved."

The Ntlero report said, “The Internal Audit highlights the fact that Isidingo increased its pricing structure immediately or a short while after being appointed, contrary to the firm prices they had offered in their bid document.”

In this leaked report it’s alleged a certain service provider inflated prices immediately after being illegally appointed to render services to the municipality. It has since recommended that disciplinary action be taken against them and they be reported to the police for their alleged involvement in this irregular security tender.
