Hundreds of people are about to set foot in Welkom, in the Free State, for the Matjhabeng Spring Blow.
Apart from giving people a good time, the event is expected to boost the city’s economy with several tourists expected to visit. The event has thus far created over 150 jobs, empowered over 60 vendors, 30 service providers and small, medium and micro enterprises (SMMEs) locally.
The event has also been labelled to give exposure to local talent as it provides a platform for local artists and artisans to showcase their skills. Visitors attending the event are expected to spend on local businesses, such as vendors, restaurants, and accommodation, stimulating the local economy and inspiring a wide creation of SMMEs and entrepreneurs alike.
The event’s communication team said a chance for local artists to gain exposure and potential opportunities for future success will be made possible on the day of the event.
Throughout the last weekend of September, Matjhabeng Spring Blow will act as an economic stimulus.
“Food vendors, artisans, craft sellers, and other exhibitors that offer diverse and high-quality products will enhance the overall festival experience.”
