Female police officers lead successful Operation Basadi in Theunissen─── HEIDRÈ MALGAS 12:42 Sun, 06 Aug 2023
August marks Women’s Month, inspiring the conception and execution of Operation Basadi, a crime-prevention roadblock led by the women police officers of the Lejweleputswa District.
Police spokesperson Stephan Thakeng said Col Senobia Solomon and Col Beulah Seyaya led the operation in Theunissen on Friday (4/8), from 10am to midday.
“The ranks of Operation Basadi included women from Welkom public order policing, members of the Welkom police force, K9 unit, and flying squad, as well as members from the Bronville police force and emergency medical services personnel.’

A total of 193 vehicles and 432 individuals were searched during the operation, resulting in one arrest for possession of dagga found in a taxi minibus, one arrest for illegal immigration, two shebeen closures, and one citation under the Road Traffic Act.
The officers conducted highly visible policing in the streets of Masilo, helping keep the community safe.
