Tswaing mayor to meet protesting residents─── 10:42 Tue, 04 Apr 2023
The Tswaing Local Municipality mayor, Nora Mahlangu, is expected to meet with protesting residents who have barricaded the R507 road at Ottosdal.
Traffic flow has been affected since 06:00, with vehicles patiently waiting. Some made u-turns as the protesters were adamant about not opening the road.
Letlhogonolo Motji informed the gathering that Mahlangu was on her way to meet with them. Taxis in the area have also been affected.
Angry residents of Letsopa near Ottosdal in the North West closed the road on Tuesday morning over dissatisfaction with the recruitment process for a road project in the area. The North West Department of Public Works earlier this year handed over a rehabilitation project of the road between Ottosdal and Delareyville. Residents are not happy with the transparency of it.
The department's spokesperson, Matsube Mfoloe, has promised to reply to questions sent to him by OFM News.
