North West hoping to be among best with 2023's matric results─── KEKELETSO MOSEBETSI 09:29 Tue, 04 Apr 2023
The North West MEC for Education has emphasised the department’s intentions to improve the 2023 matric results.
North West Education held Grade 12 Autumn camps from 25 March until 2 April 2023 where learners who excelled were awarded certificates at the end of the camps.
According to the Department's spokesperson, Elias Malindi, the primary objective of the camps was to assist schools with subjects in which learners had not performed well since the beginning of the year. He said learners were subjected to write a pre-test to assess challenges in various subjects and teachers would then treat problematic areas that they observed from the test.
The province was placed fifth after the 2022 matric results and Education MEC, Viola Motsumi, has since made her intentions clear that she is aiming at improving results this year. Malindi said Motsumi informed all principals and teachers that they should make the province proud.
He further added that Motsumi was also encouraged by how learners improved their performances during the camps.
