An experienced Takatso Lebenya was appointed by the Council of the Thabo Mofutsanyana District Municipality to take over the administration of the institution as its accounting officer.
This is her third term at the helm of the municipality as the MM, besides her being responsible for Special Programs and later as Director responsible for Community Services, also for two terms.
During her speech after being appointed, she said: "We are going to ensure the municipality obtains a clean audit for the 2023 financial year. This is because we have an audit plan."
'We have an audit plan'
She promised to work harder for the residents of Thabo Mofutsanayana, especially in terms of making sure service delivery runs smoothly.
She adds the district will make sure the local municipalities get the necessary support. She was talking about the challenges such as water and electricity in the local municipalities, which include Setsoto, Dihlabeng, Nketoana, Maluti-a-Phofung, Phumelela and Mantsopa.
Lebenya also mentioned the youths should access job opportunities before they are advertised externally.
She concluded by saying qualified individuals will be employed for certain projects that arise in the district.
Lebenya was welcomed by the executive mayor, Conny Msibi, who said in her address, "All of the staff members have to take this opportunity to prepare for a totally new kind of administration because Me Lebenya might have been the MM in the past, but the mandate and the terms of contract are new."
She also reiterated the former Acting MM, Selby Lengoabala’s words, which confirmed the municipality was on its way to a clean audit and the new MM is equal to the task, having led this municipality to improved audit outcomes in the past .
