Taps are running dry in the Kroonstad-based Moqhaka Local municipalility in the Free State as a result of load-shedding.
According to the municipal spokesperson, Dika Kheswa, the municipality has dispatched 10 water trucks to Maokeng and four additional will also be added tomorrow. He says each ward will also be allocated a water truck for funeral and health care facilities, whilst the municipality is busy fixing reservoirs to increase the water storage capacity in Maokeng.
"The trial run on the technical operation of the reservoir will be done tomorrow. Residents are therefore urged to be in contact with their respective councillors, as they will be in control of these water trucks," added Kheswa.
Meanwhile, Kheswa has apologised to residents for the inconvenience and further stated that the municipality is working around the clock to ensure that residents have access to water.
