During her resignation, Matsemela thanked Maape for allowing her to serve the people of the province.
“Dear Honourable Speaker, Resignation Letter: Mmaphefo Lucy Matsemela
I hereby render my resignation as a member of the NWPL with immediate effect, from the 6th December 2022. Thank you for allowing me to serve the people of the North West Province with honour. Hope you find this in order, yours sincerely,” she said.

“On behalf of the department, I take this time to announce to the public and welcome MEC Motsumi to the department. She is no stranger to the institution. We believe she will lead the department to its greatest heights in our quest to continually improve the quality of education in the province. We also sincerely thank the outgoing MEC, Mmaphefo Matsemela, who gracefully led the department during her tenure,” Malindi said.
