Ntombela’s call to men: Protect women and children─── KEKELETSO MOSEBETSI 12:15 Sun, 27 Nov 2022
Men need to be the first line of defense against anyone who disrespects women and children.
Free State Premier Sisi Ntombela said this at the launch of the 16 Days of Activism Campaign against Gender-based Violence towards women and children.
While addressing young boys at Lekgalong la Mantsopa in Modderpoort, outside Ladybrand in the Free State, earlier on Sunday 27 November 2022, Ntombela called on boys to be activists against any form of violence in their communities.
Ntombela’s spokesperson, Palesa Chubisi, previously stated that today’s programme will centre on educating men and boys.
This after recent concerning statistics revealed the province has recorded a high number of gender-based violence (GBV) wherein boys are the alleged perpetrators.
“The Premier encouraged them to resist the temptation of taking drugs and pursuing a life of crime. The Free State Provincial Government has invited over two hundred boys as well as men to engage with them in a conversation to cultivate social change,” adds Chubisi.
