Health department confirms N8 accident victim died due to injuries─── LUCKY NKUYANE 13:00 Sat, 19 Nov 2022
The Free State Department of Health has confirmed that the ninth patient who passed away following an accident on the N8 near Botshabelo, indeed died due to injuries sustained during the collision.
The accident, which involved a bus and a truck, occurred on the morning of Thursday 10 November 2022.

The deceased was initially admitted to the Botshabelo District Hospital on the day of the accident and was later discharged. On 13 November, she was transferred to the Moroka Hospital and passed away the day after.

Earlier, the department had warned against speculation about the death of one of the victims, saying people should not rush to conclusions and link the death to the accident yet.

The provincial Emergency Medical Services (EMS) previously said the injured commuters were taken to the Botshabelo Hospital (22) and the Moroka Hospital in Thaba 'Nchu (9), whilst critically and moderately injured people have been transported to the Pelonomi Trauma Hospital (6) and Rosepark Life Hospital (1) in Bloemfontein by various emergency medical services.
Patients included three that were critically injured, 19 that were moderately injured, and 32 with minor injuries, with seven people declared dead on the scene - both the drivers and five passengers.

“The Free State Department of Health can confirm after a post-mortem was conducted and results received, that another person has died as a result of the injuries sustained from the N8 horrific accident between a bus and a truck that occurred on the morning of Thursday 10 November 2022.
"The Free State Provincial Government again sends condolences to the family of the deceased and wishes a speedy recovery to all the injured,” Health's spokesperson, Mondli Mvambi, added.
