#BethlehemWeek: Promoting Free State employees' health─── KEKELETSO MOSEBETSI 10:32 Tue, 30 Aug 2022

The Bethlehem-based Dihlabeng Local Municipality’s wellness section and other stakeholders in the Free State hosted a successful sports tournament on 27 August 2022 as part of promoting wellness among employees.
Free State Health spokesperson, Mondli Mvambi, said the Dihlabeng Municipality, in conjunction with government departments, took part in the sports tournament which included male soccer and female netball teams.
Mvambi said the Health Department sent Phekolong, Nketoana, and Dihlabeng representatives from these respective hospitals to take part in the tournament to promote wellness and raise awareness of gender-based violence (GBV).
According to the Dihlabeng Municipality’s Facebook page, the games were held at Goble Park and the Bohlokong Tennis Court, with participating teams from the Dihlabeng Municipality, MAP Water, SAPS, Health, Social Development, Kestell Masters, Child Welfare, Correctional Services, Salt and Pepper. Teams that walked away with the medals on the day were the MAP Water team who won the soccer and the Dihlabeng Local Municipality’s team who won the netball. Trophies and medals were handed out at the event to the winners in the three top positions.

While the Maluti-a-Phofung Municipality’s Executive Mayor, Gilbert Mokotso, recently addressed issues of gender-based violence and femicide (GBVF), the municipality’s spokesperson, Thabo Khesa, told OFM News that the objective of the dialogue is to address challenges faced by victims of GBVF and getting justice for them.
