Cash missing after burglary at Free State premier’s house | News Article

The burglary at the Free State premier’s house comes on the heels of the alleged burglary at the South African president’s farm.

Provincial DA leader and Member of the Provincial Legislature (MPL), Roy Jankielsohn, stated that the burglary at Premier Sisi Ntombela’s house was confirmed by MEC of Police, Roads and Transport, William Bulwane.

During a legislature sitting, Bulwane told members that the burglary was reported to police three months ago and he listed an undisclosed amount of cash that was stolen.

Meanwhile, Ntombela spokesperson, Palesa Chubisi, confirms that the premier's Frankfort house was broken into. Chubisi says Ntombela has since reported the matter to the police in Frankfort and it is being investigated. The police are yet to comment to the OFM News inquiry.

A few weeks ago, former spy boss Arthur Fraser revealed that a large amount of money in foreign currency was stolen at South African president Cyril Ramaphosa’s farm in February 2020. Ramaphosa, who has denied any criminal wrongdoing, has refused to divulge any details of the burglary.

The Office of the Public Protector previously stated investigations into allegations that Ramaphosa violated the Executive Code of Ethics are ongoing.

The deputy Public Protector, Kholeka Gcaleka, is subsequently acting in the now-suspended Busisiwe Mkhwebane’s position and says she has acceded to a request from Ramaphosa for an extension of the deadline given to him to provide input on the matter.
