The Free State deployed search and rescue team, as a significant part of the KwaZulu-Natal multidisciplinary search and rescue experts, will return to Bloemfontein on Friday.
This after spending days of assisting other search and rescue experts and multidisciplinary experts trying to recover the mortal remains of missing persons after the floods that hit KZN.
According to Free State Health spokesperson, Mondli Mvambi, the Head of Disaster Management in the Free State, Markes Butler, has informed him that they will demobilise on Thursday and return home on Friday. He says that Burtler further said the North West and Gauteng teams will take over and try to recover the remaining bodies.
OFM News previously reported that the Free State EMS team was deployed to KZN over the weekend and this included two highly specialised personnel. Mvambi had said that the official statistics of recovered bodies will be done by the official government structures responsible for this KZN Search and Rescue Mission.
This after KZN Premier Sihle Zikala yesterday announced that the discovery of 5 more bodies brought the KZN floods death tally to 448.
