#CampusShutdown: Continued disruptions at UFS─── 11:49 Tue, 22 Feb 2022
Classes are still being disrupted at the main, Bloemfontein-based campus of the University of the Free State (UFS).
This is according to the member of the UFS Student Representative Council (SRC), Luvuyo Jacobs. OFM News previously reported that the UFS South African Students Congress (Sasco) had requested the institution's management to revisit decisions that have left students stranded. Amongst those decisions were turning away students due to a lack of space at campus, mandatory vaccinations which led to the arrests of three protesters at the institution on Friday, and the commencement of classes that had to take place on Monday following a recent indication that there will be no further extensions of the registration period regardless of the delayed funding allocation SMSs by financial aid.
Jacobs tells OFM News students engaged in the campus shutdown on Monday, after handing out their memorandum of demands to the representative of the institution. He says that no classes will proceed until they get the desired response.
OFM News has in the meantime sent an enquiry and is awaiting a reply.
