Investigation into Mmabatho Nursing project─── KEKELETSO MOSEBETSI 14:34 Mon, 14 Feb 2022

The North West Legislature’s Health Committee has lodged an investigation into delayed construction at Mmabatho Nursing College.
Member of the North West Provincial Legislature, Gavin Edwards, tells OFM News that the committee was extremely disappointed after seeing that the project - which was initiated in 2016 -has not made any progress.
He says that the department has incurred more costs, because of lack of nurses’ residences.
This has forced the department to place student nurses in offsite accommodation.
Edwards adds the building site resembles a ghost town, with not a single construction worker on the site.
“This is a construction project that was initiated in 2016 and in 2021 the previous contractor was removed from the site, the new contractor was placed on site, and is seems like not much is happening. With the previous contractor we believe the contract was terminated due to non-deliverance, but it would seem that the new contractor is not making much progress,” he adds.
Meanwhile Edwards adds that the Legislature Committee will convene an urgent meeting with the Department of Health on the matter.
OFM News has sent questions to the North West Department of Health.
