Northern dumping site still in a state─── TSHEHLA KOTELI 09:07 Sun, 30 Jan 2022
Despite Mangaung Metro Municipality’s (MMM) executive mayor Mxolisi Siyonzana’s 100 days in office plan, which also focuses on avoiding service delivery delays, the Northern Landfill Site near Northridge Mall in Bloemfontein is not fully cleaned.
This is despite promises that the dumping site would be fully cleaned by January 23, 2022.
Siyonzana stated in a briefing on how he plans to spend his first 100 days in office, that the municipality is currently maximising their regular collection of refuse while clearing illegal dumping sites at the same time.
He further stated they will develop a clear solid waste management strategy to accommodate waste pickers and enhance the recycling value chain.
