Memorial service for Tutu in NW─── TSHEHLA KOTELI 07:00 Wed, 29 Dec 2021

The Premier of the North West, Kaobitsa Bushy Maape, is set to lead a memorial service for the late Archbishop Desmond Tutu.
According to the premier’s spokesperson, Sello Tatai, the memorial service will take place on Thursday 30 December in Klerksdorp.
Maape will be joined by the Executive Mayor of the City of Matlosana Local Municipality, James Tsolela; Bishop of the Anglican Church in Matlosana, Stephen Diseko; Provincial Chairperson of the South African Council of Churches, Bishop Victor Phalana and other leaders of faith-based organisations as well as members of the community.
Tatai shares that Tutu was born in Klerksdorp in 1931 and was awarded the Freedom of the City of Matlosana in 2001, which included getting one of the main streets named after him.
The memorial service will be preceded by a prayer session at 10:00 at Makweteng, where dignitaries will also lay a wreath at Tutu's birthplace.
The memorial service will then commence at 12:00 at the Klerksdorp Auditorium.
