The Istutter founder is in the final stretch of the nearly 225km walk from Bloemfontein to Kroonstad in order to raise awareness for speech disorders, to coincide with International Stuttering Awareness Day.

Tumi Modibedi, who is the founder of Istutter, tells OFM News his feet are slightly swollen, however, after a brief medical check-up he was deemed in good condition to carry on walking. Modibedi says he was very excited after they passed the halfway mark of the journey from Welkom to Kroonstad. The last stretch will commence early on Friday morning, at 2 o'clock. Modibedi says he is expected to arrive in Kroonstad at about 10 am on Friday morning, where the IStutter foundation team will host a speech disorder campaign. Free Optometrist visitations will be provided and school kids, including teachers, will be taught about speech disorders.

"On Wednesday, we left Theunissen very early as well, because we were going to have a long walk. From Theunissen to Welkom we had to walk about 54 km. We got to Welkom very late, at around 8:30. It was very far, but you know, it was worth it. It was really worth it. On Thursday, we had a rest day with some recovery to rest for Kroonstad – the main day – which coincides with International Stuttering Awareness Day.

OFM News previously reported that Modibedi's inspiration for the foundation comes from his experience of stuttering. He said that he wishes to constantly impact the lives of young people and change the narrative against speech disorders. Meanwhile, Modibedi is expected to be joined by the Free State Education MEC and Social Development MEC, Mamiki Qabathe, in Kroonstad on Friday.
