Safer festive season operations by the police in the Northern Cape are already underway.
With approximately only two weeks left to December, the police in the province confirm they have already embarked on festive season safety operations - with increased roadblocks and more police visibility in shopping malls and other public areas.
The police in the province conducted roadblocks in various areas of Postmasburg and Kimberley this weekend.
Provincial police spokesperson, Mohale Ramatseba, has confirmed they will be intensifying their crime prevention measures as the country nears the festive period.
The importance of the Safer Festive Season Operations aimed at fighting crime during the festive period has been highlighted by Police Minister Bheki Cele this past week when he released crime statistics for the second quarter of 2020/21.
Cele indicated that cases of rape, gender-based violence, murder and stock theft, amongst others, have increased substantially and that more needs to be done to redress this.
