A South African Police Services' (SAPS) van was set alight during a protest at the Senekal Magistrate's Court in the Free State on Tuesday.
This follows a commotion between disgruntled protesters and members of the SAPS following the court appearance of two suspected murderers, Sekwetje Mahlamba (32) and Sekola Matlaletsa (44).
Mahlamba and Matlaletsa made their first court appearance in the Senekal Magistrate's Court on a charge of murder after Brendin Horner was murdered on Thursday on a farm at Paul Roux close to Bethlehem.
Earlier today the police had fired two shots in an attempt to disperse the protestors who overturned the police van. Scores of residents stood outside the Magistrate's Court premises in disbelief as the vehicle caught fire.
