Mpianzi family ‘hasn’t seen report’ on eve of release─── 11:09 Wed, 04 Mar 2020

Gauteng Education MEC Panyaza Lesufi is set to release the forensic report into the death of Parktown Boys’ High School pupil Enock Mpianzi on Wednesday evening.
The grade 8 pupil died during a school orientation camp near Brits in North West in January.
Lesufi is set to release the forensic report into the teen’s death on Wednesday evening during a parent meeting at the prestigious school in Johannesburg.
But the family’s lawyer Ian Levitt says they are yet to be consulted.
“They not only did not have the family’s blessing. They didn’t even have the Mpianzi family’s version of what took place. The report would have been meaningless and incomplete.”
The release of the report was postponed about two weeks ago after the family, according to Lesufi, failed to give their blessing.
Levitt says they are due to meet with Lesufi and the department’s legal team on Wednesday – hours prior to the planned release.
“It came as a surprise, to say the least, that the MEC had put out a press statement that irrespective of how the meeting goes tomorrow and irrespective whether the family will give their blessing – he will release the report.”
Levitt says they have conducted their own probes into Enock’s death and the case, which will see Lesufi as a defendant, will soon be filed.
“If the MEC continues to behave in this manner it – so be it – but that will be another factor that will be considered when the matter is finally adjudicated.”
