Council suspends Matlosana Municipal Manager─── LUCKY NKUYANE 09:03 Tue, 03 Sep 2019
The Matlosana Council has resolved to suspend the embattled municipal manager, Theetsi Nkhumise, following a sitting on Monday 2 August 2019.
A source tells OFM News that the mayor, Maetu Kgaile, will now be requested to write Nkhumise a letter asking him for reasons why he must not be suspended. This after a council sitting today after ANC councillors were ordered to hold this siting. Nkhumise has been linked to the financial irregularities by the Municipal Public Accounts Committee (MPAC) and the Auditor-General (AG), Kimi Makwetu. There were three attempts by the council to sit and deal with the report but all attempts failed after residents believed to be on his payroll, disputed the meeting.
This is not the first time that Nkhumise has been in the news for all the wrong reasons. Earlier this year, according to the Mail & Guardian, irate residents of the municipality approached lawyers to force the municipality to remove Nkhumise. This after he allegedly kept mum on his alleged criminal record and failed to disclose it to the municipality. But Kgaile, in an exclusive interview with OFM News in May 2019, said the allegations against the manager have no substance and are baseless. Kgaile said the municipality has done everything according to the book. A thorough background check was done on Nkhumise and nothing irregular was uncovered by the municipality. This is developing story and the several attempts to get a response from the municipality or the ANC about Nkhumiseng have been unsuccessful.
out Nkhumiseng have been unsuccessful.
