Matlosana Council to decide municipal manager’s fate─── LUCKY NKUYANE 09:36 Mon, 02 Sep 2019
The Matlosana Council in the North West is set to decide the fate of the embattled Municipal Manager, Theetsi Nkhumise, on Monday 2 August 2019.
The council’s expected meeting follows after councillors in that area were summoned to the ANC provincial headquarters on Thursday after council meetings were disrupted three times in two months. The sitting will today deal with financial irregularities stemming from the Municipal Public Accounts Committee (MPAC) and the Auditor-General Kimi Makwetu's report, linking Nkhumise to these irregularities. A source previously told OFM News that those who have been disrupting the council are believed to be on the payroll of the manager. Several attempts to get a response from the municipality or the ANC about Nkhumiseng have been unsuccessful.
This is not the first time that Nkhumiseng has been in the news for all the wrong reasons. Earlier this year, according to the Mail & Guardian, irate residents of the municipality approached lawyers to force the municipality to remove Nkhumise. This after he allegedly kept mum on his alleged criminal record and failed to disclose it to the municipality. But Mayor Maetu Kgaile, in an exclusive interview with OFM News in May 2019, said the allegations against the manager have no substance and are baseless. Kgaile said the municipality has done everything according to the book. A thorough background check was done on Nkhumise and nothing irregular was uncovered by the municipality.
