A report that put to scrutiny the North West Traditional Affairs of the Bakgatla Ba Kgafela (BBKTA) following allegations of maladministration, amongst others, is expected to be released on Monday following a court interdict against the report.

Premier Job Mokgoro was supposed to have released the findings of a report on these allegations in June after appointing a commission of inquiry to look into issues brought forward by some members of the Tribal Council.

In March 2017, the Democratic Alliance (DA) reported it was recommended that BBKTA and its subsidiaries be placed under administration and that criminal charges be considered against some of the custodians of the entities. Recently, Mokgoro announced that he would facilitate and speed up the Special Investigation Unit's investigations into the allegations of maladministration at the Tribal Council. Mokgoro said he will release the report once he has gone through its content and recommendations.

Mokgoro will announce and avail the report Monday 26 August 2019 in Moruleng in the Moses Kotane Local Municipality. In a statement, the spokesperson of the office of the premier, Vuyisile Ngesi, says the Premier will also announce the report relating to the Batlhako Ba Leema Traditional Community on or before 4 September 2019, at a time and venue still to be determined.

Ngesi says, furthermore, Mokgoro will announce the release of the report relating to the Batlhako Ba Mmakau Traditional Community on or before 13 September 2019, at a time and venue still to be determined.

“The Premier is also expected to release the report in relation to the chieftaincy in Ga-Khunwana on or before 20 September 2019, at a date and venue still to be determined.”

“Concerning the report on Bapo Ba Mogale I and Bapo Ba Mogale II, the matter is still before the court as a result of the legal position to interdict its release by Mr Julius Mogale; and therefore, the report cannot be made available,” Ngesi further adds.
