WATCH: Mangaung Metro to meet irate residents─── LUCKY NKUYANE 08:58 Thu, 02 May 2019
The Mangaung Metro Municipality is on Thursday 2 May 2019 expected to meet with irate Ward 5 residents who are upset with the Metro over the newly launched Integrated Public Transport Network (IPTN) Hauweng Project.
Concerns over the alleged exclusion of residents in the Hauweng Project is set to dominate the planned meeting between irate residents and municipal officials after a group of residents threatened to disrupt the unveiling of the project logo during an event held last week Friday at Sechaba in Phahameng, Bloemfontein. They accused the municipality of excluding them and overlooking certain local contractors who wanted to be part of the project.
The spokesperson for the municipality, Qondile Khedama, however, told OFM News that proper and fair tender procedures were followed, but added the municipality was willing to engage the angry residents. Earlier, before the event, the speaker of the municipal council in the Free State, Mxolosi Siyonzana, and a ward councillor in that area, were caught on video during a heated argument with this group. Siyonzana later announced that the municipality has agreed and taken a decision to meet with concerned residents.
