Bloemfontein Celtic chairman, Jimmy Augousti, is pleased to hear that construction and renovations at the Seisa Ramabodu Stadium are to be completed in November.
This comes after The Free State Department of Sport, Arts, Culture and Recreation MEC, Dan Khothule confirmed to OFM the department is confident that construction at the stadium would be completed as planned, and could see Celtic move into their revamped home this November.
Augousti told OFM Sport the construction progress is “good news to the entire team.”
“That’s very exciting news, if you take into consideration the fact that Bloemfontein Celtic this season has been playing without a home ground,” Augousti adds.
The renovations were initiated after the ground was deemed unsafe by the management of the Premier Soccer League (PSL) in 2011. It was initially reported the team would move back to the home ground early in 2013, but delay occurred.
When asked what he thought could have delayed the renovations, the Celtic boss did not want to commit to an answer.
Siwelele has been using both Kaizer Sebothelo Stadium (in Botshabelo) and Free State Stadium to play their home matches, but Augousti stresses: “Our home ground is Seisa Ramabodu. It is not Kaizer Sebothelo Stadium in Botshabelo and neither is the Free State Stadium our home ground. If it can be ready before the end of the year, it would really be positive for the club.”
Phunya Sele Sele is in action this Sunday when they meet Moroka Swallows in a PSL encounter in the Johannesburg, at Dobsonville Stadium. Kick-off is at 15:30.
