Bloemfontein - The Free State health department has dismissed speculation that Balekile Mzangwa, executive mayor of the Thabo Mofutsanyana district, will be appointed as the new HOD of the province's embattled health department.
Spokesperson Mondli Mvambi says the allegations are false.
He did however concede that Mzangwa will be appointed as the department’s Chief Operating Officer.
The decision was taken during the provincial executive council meeting, leaving the MEC of health Benny Malakoane and HOD David Motau still occupying their positions.

Discussions about the financial constraints in the department are also set to take place.
