Clarens prof's murderers jailed for life plus 15 years─── 17:10 Fri, 25 Apr 2014
Bethlehem - Daniel Wybenga (69) of Clarens's two murderers have been sentenced to life imprisonment in the Bethlehem High Court.
The retired professor was killed last year October in his house in the sleepy Eastern Free State town. He was found strangled on his bathroom floor with his hands and feet bound with ropes. Wybenga lived alone in the house and his gold Toyota Corolla, cellphone and music system were stolen.
Simon Dlamini (23) and Thabiso Makoetji (28) from Kgubetswana near Clarens were also handed 15 years imprisonment each for robbery.
Provincial Commissioner Simon Mpembe congratulated Sergeant Johannes Aslett and Constable Elias Maphisa from the Clarens Detective Services for a job well done. The case was decided in less than seven months.
