Bloemfontein - Four suspects, who allegedly lured 28 people to Cape Town under false pretences, remain in custody at the Bloemspruit police station after appearing in the Bloemfontein Magistrate's court yesterday.
Free State police spokesperson Zweli Mohobeleli said the four are facing charges of theft under false pretence and impersonating a medical doctor.
One of the suspects, Aaron Makole, who is also a pastor, has dismissed the allegations. He has challenged the accusers to provide proof of the allegations being made.
Makole and his co-accused allegedly lured 25 women and three men to Cape Town promising them work as home-based caretakers. The 28 however allege that upon arrival in Cape Town, they learnt they'd be working as prostitutes.
