ANC members may support charged officials - ANC─── LUCKY NKUYANE 06:22 Wed, 11 Aug 2021

The ANC in the Free State says party members are allowed to support individuals facing serious charges in court, in their own capacity.
The ANC's Interim Provincial Committee (IPC) spokesperson, Oupa Khoabane, however, says the ANC previously took a decision not to support members who are facing serious charges of corruption and others.
He says the party is trying to deal with issues of corruption and fraud.
On Wednesday 11 August 2021, the suspended ANC Secretary-General (SG) Ace Magushule and former Mangaung Metro Mayor, Olly Mlamleli are due in court to face charges of fraud and corruption related to the failed R255 million asbestos project.
Previously hundreds of Magashule’s supporters across the country made their way to Bloemfontein to support the embattled ANC SG.
He is amongst others accused of failing to exercise oversight during the asbestos project in the province.
Magashule supporters previously claimed that psychological warfare was being waged against people perceived to be close allies of Magashule.
ANC member, Malefu Mofokeng, told OFM News that state resources were being used to wage this war.
The ANC National Executive Committee (NEC) has been accused of targeting Magashule by using the step aside policy.
They are alleged to have flaunted the Nasrec 2017 ANC elective conference, which also stated that those accused of any criminal activity must step aside from their party positions.
