Mandrax tablets seized at Upington─── 09:51 Thu, 16 Jan 2020
Police arrested two male suspects in possession of Mandrax tablets at the Nakop border outside Upington.
Three officers were patrolling the area at about 01:20 on 15 January 2020 when they stopped a black VW Polo for verification of the driver’s license. Suspicion arose when the suspects did not present their identification and the officers were compiled to search the vehicle.
Mandrax tablets worth R840 000 were found in the glove box and under the rear passengers' seat of the vehicle. Police spokesperson, Mohale Ramatseba, says the SAPS applauds their fellow members for conducting a thorough search of the vehicle and preventing drug smuggling. The two suspects will be appearing before the Local Magistrate’s Court soon.
