Manchester United continued their title defence of the FA Cup on Friday (7/2), courtesy of a late win against Leicester City at Old Trafford.

United beat the Foxes 2-1 at the Theatre of Dreams to advance to the next round, but they left it late.

Bobby De Cordova-Reid opened the scoring in the 42nd minute to hand Leicester a 1-0 lead at the half-time break.

In the 68th minute, Joshua Zirkzee equalised for United. With the game heading for a 1-1 draw, Harry Maguire had the final say when he scored the winner for the Red Devils in the 93rd minute.

Just as the Foxes thought they were safe, upstepped Maguire to head home a Bruno Fernandes free-kick in the third minute of added time, sending United through. Following the match, the coach, Ruben Amorim, said while they are happy to continue their title defence, they will need to raise their level going forward as it will only get tougher.

“Today it’s just the feeling of the win, and the fans go home with that feeling of a win,” said Amorim. “They perform really well, and they help us a lot to change the game.

“The rest is hard to point out – something to give them a little bit of confidence – just the spirit in the second half. We had a lot more energy, more second balls, more things, but with the rest, we have a lot to improve. So, we already knew that, but yeah, we need to do better.”

The fourth round of the FA Cup continues on Saturday (8/2) with a further ten matches to be played. At 14:15, Leeds will be in action against Millwall at Elland Road, and this could be a fiery affair. At the same time, Leyton Orient will face last season's losing finalists, Manchester City, at the Breyer Group Stadium in London.

At 17:00, Coventry City will host Ipswich, while Everton will welcome the in-form Bournemouth to Goodison Park. Stoke City, in turn, will play Cardiff, while Preston will face Wycombe Wanderers. At St Mary's, Southampton will play Burnley, and Wigan will face Fulham at the DW Stadium.

Birmingham City will take on Newcastle at 19:45, while at 22:00, Brighton & Hove Albion will face Chelsea. On Sunday, at 14:30, Blackburn Rovers will take on Wolverhampton Wanderers at Ewood Park.

At 17:00, it’s over to Home Park, where Plymouth Argyle will play the Premiership leaders, Liverpool. In the weekend’s last game, Aston Villa will face Tottenham Hotspur at Villa Park, with the match in Birmingham kicking off at 19:35.
