Hugo Broos - Bafana Bafana

“I have already spoken with assistant coach Helman Mkhalele and when we are back in South Africa, we will try look for new players who will be invited for camp in March.”

The national football coach, Hugo Broos, has confirmed that he will be giving more players an opportunity in their upcoming international friendlies against Andorra and Tunisia.

Bafana arrived back in South Africa on Wednesday morning following their successful Africa Cup of Nations campaign in Ivory Coast, where they claimed the bronze medal.

Without too much elaboration, Broos, indicated that there will be some changes as he is not 100% satisfied with his squad going into the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers, but it’s a matter of only one or two new players.

“There will be new players in the two friendlies in March. I don't think it will be ten players but there are some positions in the team that require more attention than others,” said Broos.

“For example, on the right side there is no problem and we don't have to look for another right-back. There are some positions we have to look at.

“I have already spoken with assistant coach Helman Mkhalele and when we are back in South Africa, we will try look for new players who will be invited for camp in March.

“Let's hope we find players who can help us in the next games for the World Cup qualifiers.”

Bafana’s next game is on 21 March against Andorra in Algeria.
