On the weekend both teams confirmed their spot in the final of South Africa’s version of the FA Cup.

The Buccaneers booked their spot in the championship match after beating their bitter-rivals in an extra-time thriller at Soccer City on Saturday in the first semi-final.

Pirates took the lead in the 14th minute of the Soweto derby with Kermit Erasmus breaking the deadlock. In the 79th, Yusuf Maart equalised for the Amakhosi sending the semi-final into extra time.

Sandile Mthethwa scored the winning goal in the 114th minute.

On Sunday evening Sekhukhune advanced to the final after they managed to beat Stellenbosch at the Danie Craven Stadium in Coetzenburg.

The game ended in a goalless stalemate after added extra time and this forced the semi-final into a penalty shootout.

The team from Limpopo won the shootout 4-3 to advance to the major cup final for the first time in their history.

The big final will be played on 26 May at Loftus Versfeld in Pretoria.
