The National Union of Metalworkers of South Africa (NUMSA) has signed an inflation wage agreement in the transport sector.
Numsa spokesperson, Phakamile Hlubi Majola, tells OFM News they met with employers in the bus industry, together with other unions on Tuesday, to sign a wage agreement.
She says that wages will be increased by 6% across the board, and this will extend to all allowances and benefits.
Majola adds employers have also agreed that all new workers will be eligible for salary increases, even if they join the company after 31 March 2022.
