France were crowned Six Nations champions on Saturday for the first time since 2022 after defeating Scotland at Stade de France in Paris.

The series victory is a significant boost for Les Bleus ahead of their tour to New Zealand later this year, where they will take on the All Blacks.

Yoram Moefana scored a brace of tries for the French in their crucial 35-16 victory over Scotland. Louis Bielle-Biarrey and Thomas Ramos also crossed the whitewash, securing a bonus point and finishing the tournament with 21 points. Ramos further contributed 15 points with the boot, slotting three conversions and three penalties to bring his individual tally in the match to 20 points.

Earlier on Saturday night, England kept their Six Nations title hopes alive with a dominant 68-14 victory over Wales at the Millennium Stadium in Cardiff. While England secured the necessary bonus-point win, they also needed Scotland to upset France in Paris to stand a chance of claiming the title.

Chandler Cunningham-South and Henry Pollock each scored a brace of tries for England, while Maro Itoje, Tom Roebuck, Tommy Freeman, Will Stuart, Alex Mitchell, and Joe Heyes also crossed the whitewash as the English finished the tournament as runners-up.

Fin Smith converted five of England’s tries, while Marcus Smith successfully added four conversions.

On Saturday afternoon, back-to-back defending champions Ireland kept their slim title hopes alive with a hard-fought 22-17 victory over an ill-disciplined Italy in Rome. A hat-trick of tries from hooker Dan Sheehan, along with a score from Hugo Keenan, secured a bonus point for the men from the Emerald Isle. However, despite the win, they needed significant favours from Wales and Scotland to clinch a third successive title.

Ireland wrapped up their campaign in third place on the log and also bid farewell to a few legendary players, including Peter O’Mahony and Conor Murray, who represented the team for the last time.
