A brilliant second half by Glasgow Warriors earned them a bonus-point win at the Danie Craven stadium in Stellenbosch on Saturday afternoon, downing the DHL Stormers by 28-17.

Tries from Johnny Matthews, Player of the Match Sione Tuipulotu, Kyle Rowe and former Sharks player Henco Venter secured the win for Franco Smith’s men, who moved to the top of the standings after six matches.

The Stormers looked like the stronger team in the first half, which remained scoreless up to the 33rd minute when Damian Willemse went over the whitewash for an easy try.

Glasgow responded swiftly but a deliberate knock-down from Manie Libbok resulted in a yellow card for the hosts, which was quickly taken advantage of when hooker Johnny Matthews scored a converted try, levelling the score at half-time.

With Libbok still off the field in the opening minutes of the second half captain Tuipulotu dotted down another try, with Adam Hastings converting, giving the visitors a 14-7 lead.  The Stormers responded with a try by captain Dan du Plessis, Libbok converting.

A penalty by Libbok put the Stormers in front going into the final 15 minutes, it was Glasgow who finished stronger, with winger Kyle Rowe dotting down in the left corner before Venter forced his way over.

The Stormers will be concerned over the status of Damian Willemse and Ben-Jason Dixon, as both Springboks left the field with injuries in the first half. Following the international break, the Stormers will resume their United Rugby Championship competition on 30 November when they travel to Durban to face the Sharks.
