“It’s going to rain tomorrow. So probably having him in the midfield next to Canan is going to help us just in terms of a little bit more control. And I'm talking about as in age, a little bit more experience.”

The Bulls have opted to rest the Potchefstroom-born centre David Kriel for tomorrow night’s United Rugby Championship clash against the Scarlets in Llanelli.

During the week the unbeaten Bulls fought to have Kriel’s red card against the Ospreys rescinded, and they were successful.

The Bulls have opted to rather field Harold Vorster who returns from injury and he will form the midfield combination with the Springbok Canan Moody.

The seasoned Springbok and player of the match in Swansea, Willie le Roux, has also been given a breather and the exciting Henry Immelman will start in the last line of defence.

The fiery hooker, Akker van der Merwe, will captain the team on the weekend as was the case during the win against Edinburgh at Loftus Versfeld.

The Bulls coach, Jake White, explains the reasoning behind the move to start the experience Vorster ahead of the exciting Kriel.

“He was injured and he would have been picked sometime when he came back anyway,” said White.

“As it turned out, David got a hearing and so we put him in, and then when David, his card got rescinded, we just decided as a group we'd leave it in as is.

“So, it's nice – it means a lot of experience. It's going to rain tomorrow. So probably having him in the midfield next to Canan is going to help us just in terms of a little bit more control. And I’m talking about as in age, a little bit more experience.”
