“The world champions are heading home with a maximum of ten points from their tour Down Under.”

The Springboks claimed back-to-back wins against the Wallabies in Australia with a convincing 30-12 bonus point victory in Perth on Saturday.

The victory at the Optus Stadium sees the world champions heading home with a maximum of ten points from their tour Down Under.

The wet conditions made for a tight affair especially in the first half which was led 11-9 at the turn by the Springboks, following an Aphelele Fassi try, as well as two penalties via the boot of Sacha Feinberg-Mngomezulu. The Wallabies' points were all scored by the flyhalf Noah Lolesio through penalties.

Three minutes into the second stanza, Marco van Staden scored for the Springboks, but mere minutes later Lolesio narrowed South Africa’s lead to six points with his fourth penalty.

The replacement hooker, Malcolm Marx, scored a brace of tries for the Springboks from the back of the maul, and these two scores in the space of ten minutes put the game well out of reach of the Wallabies.

The Boks will head back to South Africa where they will have a week away from the playing field before facing the All Blacks in a double-header. The first of these games will be played on 31 August at Ellis Park in Johannesburg.

All Blacks celebrate 50th consecutive win at Eden Park

Meanwhile, earlier in the day, the All Blacks thumped Argentina 42-10 at Eden Park in Auckland to return to winning ways. The victory also spelt a special milestone for the All Blacks as it was their 50th consecutive win at Eden Park.

Scorers:

Wallabies: Pen. – Lolesio 4

Springboks: Tries – Aphelele Fassi, Marco van Staden, Malcolm Marx 2 Conv. – Sacha Feinberg-Mngomezulu, Handré Pollard Pen. – Feinberg-Mngomezulu 2
